• The editor will be responsible for assigning and editing at least one staff writer and will also pick up edits at a fast pace as needed.

• The editor will help to reconceive the Afr-i-can daily newsletter and will be responsible for the newsletter.

• Assign, edit, and publish news stories that meet the complex's editorial standards from a qualitative and brand standpoint.

• Work closely with the Executive Editor to increase news stories' quality, efficiency, and performance.

• Communicate with news writers to ensure they are correctly drafting write-ups that highlight the main elements of the story

• Collaborate with the Social team to maximize the reach of news coverage through social media platforms

• Write news stories when necessary, as well as update news stories when appropriate.

• Write daily video scripts for news stories to increase engagement.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.

• At least five years' experience working as a journalist, ideally in a digital news environment.

• Content briefs writing with keyword research

• Manage on-site and off-site content creation (create tasks for VAs to write the needed posts, SEO keyword optimization of the said articles, back and forth communication with the web admins),

• Come up with various white hat SEO strategies to grow the traffic, backlinks, and ranking for the relevant keywords.

• Reach out to web admins for guest posts and backlinks building.

• Constantly monitor the statistics of the websites and keep track of what efforts are working and which are not.

• Responsible for all company web design projects from concept through implementation – including digital design, creating prototypes / mock-ups, testing, and debugging.

• Provide quick turnaround of project deliverables, including wireframes, composites, functional specifications, and mobile site content.

• Shape and implement the vision of the online experience, including design, informational architecture & brand identity, ensuring consistency across the entire visual presentation.
